A Studio Practice

5 July 2017 - 29 July 2017

A Studio Practice brings together four senior Scottish artists: Wilhelmina Barns-Graham, Elizabeth Blackadder, Frances Walker and Victoria Crowe. During long and distinguished careers their work has always looked forward and they have all embraced change, new experience, collaboration and experiment. All are best known as painters but have had substantial commitments to printmaking.

Artist prints (as opposed to reproductions) make original work more widely available and in the process of making, usually in collaboration with a workshop, can add considerably to the richness of the artist’s oeuvre, innovations brought back to the studio. The studio is a real place and many artists will have more than one, but by extension it can be out of doors, temporary, anywhere where art is made in a process of experimentation and resolution.
